Where has monkeypox gone?

explored by Dr Nick Medland.

In mid 2022 in a world traumatised by COVID-19, a new pandemic threat appeared on the horizon – this time a sexually transmitted viral infection with a scary name. Headlines were grabbed and anxieties raised, but six months after the peak there are now almost no cases in UK or Europe. Was this good luck or good planning?

Nick will discuss where mpox came from, why did it spread so quickly, and why has it gone and ask the key question: are we ready for the next one?
