A brief history of infection, from the Archean to the Anthropocene and beyond.

A genocidal tale of uninvited guests and the fetid diarrhoea, pus, vomit, sputum, haemorrhage and tragic poetic misery they induce.

Matthew spent two years working as a teacher in Ghana he then returned to the U.K to take an MSc in Virology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). He undertook a PhD studying the molecular epidemiology of betaherpesviruses in Zambian children.

Matthew has worked in Zambia on tuberculosis, congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections and CMV pneumonia.
